Since 1991, Bhimsen Textile has woven Dhaka and traditional Newari textiles on handlooms in Bhaktapur, Nepal.<\/p>
Craft
Every Bhimsen Textile piece begins on a handloom. Our Dhaka products are woven entirely from cotton using traditional handloom techniques — the same craft that has shaped textiles in Bhaktapur for generations. Not every piece we offer is handwoven in the same way; where a product uses a different, more modern process, we say so plainly rather than assume.<\/p>
The People
Our handlooms are worked by a team of women artisans, in a craft long dominated by men. Every piece that leaves Bhaktapur carries their skill.<\/p>
Bhaktapur and Newari Heritage
Bhimsen Textile is based in Bhaktapur, a city defined by Newari craft tradition. We began in 1991 with four handlooms, were registered in 2004, and today work with more than thirty — continuing a heritage that runs through the city itself.<\/p>
