Can traditional craftsmanship survive in the age of fast fashion? In Bhaktapur, Nepal, Bhimsen Textile has spent more than three decades answering that question one handloom at a time.<\/p>

Bhimsen Textile began in 2048 B.S. (1991 A.D.) with just four handlooms in Bhaktapur.<\/p>

The business grew steadily and was formally registered in 2061 B.S. (2004 A.D.), marking its transition into a recognised Nepali textile enterprise.<\/p>

What started with four handlooms has grown into more than thirty, producing handmade textile products from Bhaktapur for customers around the world.<\/p>

Our team is made up of women artisans, working in a craft that has traditionally been dominated by men. Their skill is at the centre of everything we make.<\/p>

Bhimsen Textile is rooted in Bhaktapur, a city defined by its Newari heritage and centuries of craft tradition. Our work is part of that continuing story, not separate from it.<\/p>

Our products span pashmina, wool, yak wool, silk, cotton and acrylic, each suited to a different kind of piece. Our Dhaka products are woven entirely from cotton on traditional handlooms. Not every product we offer is handmade in the same way — some pieces, like our chiffon Haaku Patashi, are machine-made using more modern fabric — and we describe each piece accurately rather than assuming all of it is handwoven.<\/p>

Fast fashion has changed how the world buys textiles. Bhimsen Textile continues to answer that change by staying close to the handloom — growing carefully, and keeping the craft of Bhaktapur’s weavers at the centre of what we do.<\/p>
